As the warm summer months approach, it’s time to trade in those winter boots for a pair of stylish sandals. However, after months of being cooped up in thick socks and closed shoes, your feet might need some extra care to be sandal-ready. As a podiatrist, I often see patients struggling with dry skin, calluses, and cracked heels during this transition period. Here are some tips and recommended products to help you achieve smooth, healthy feet that you’ll be proud to show off.

1. Exfoliation: The Key to Smooth Feet

How to Use a Glass Foot File:

Dry and File: After soaking, pat your feet dry with a towel. Make sure you dry between your toes. Hold the glass foot file and gently rub it over the rough area. Focus on the heels, balls of your feet, and any other areas where you notice calluses.

Rinse and Dry: Rinse off any dead skin particles and dry your feet thoroughly.

Regular exfoliation, about once a week, can keep your feet smooth and prevent the buildup of tough, thick calluses.

2. Hydration: The Secret to Soft Skin

– Clean and Dry Your Feet: Ensure your feet are clean and completely dry before applying the lotion.

– Apply Generously: Squeeze a generous amount of SkinIntegra lotion onto your hands and massage it into your feet, paying extra attention to the heels and any other dry areas.

– Allow to Absorb: Let the lotion absorb into your skin for a few minutes before putting on socks or shoes.

For best results, use the lotion daily, especially after exfoliating with your glass foot file.

3. Intensive Moisturizing: Overnight Treatment

How to Use Moisturizing Heel Socks:

– Wear the Socks: Put on the moisturizing heel socks, ensuring they are snug but comfortable. Wear the socks for a few hours while resting  to allow the lotion to deeply penetrate and hydrate your skin. After removing the socks, your feet should feel significantly softer and more moisturized.

Using  these socks a few times a week can make a big difference in the appearance and feel of your feet.

Additional Tips for Summer Foot Care

– Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.

– Sun Protection: Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your feet, especially if you’ll be wearing open-toed shoes.

– Regular visits with your Podiatrist: Regular visits with your podiatrist can help maintain foot health!

By following these steps and using the recommended products, you can ensure your feet are well-prepared for the summer and sandal season. Enjoy the sunshine and flaunt your fabulous feet with confidence!
